Dance Lesson Schedule As the years have passed my approach to teaching these dances has streamlined. The first hour of class is a review hour of previous dances we have covered. I teach the new dance the second hour of class. Part of learning these dances is repetition. It's always a good idea to review familiar material and then challenge yourself with more advanced patterns. The basic lesson plan will begin by reviewing previous dances that were taught. I teach in 4 week cycles. The first 3 weeks of each cycle are typically individual line dances, couple round, or spot dances. The 4th week of each cycle is typically a free-style partner dance. I do not take the time to teach the dances from scratch during review sessions. The review hour is simply that, a review of each dance. You will learn the most by attending every class. You do not need to bring a partner with you for the partner dances. We will mix and match as needed to make sure everyone gets a chance to learn the dances. If we have an odd number of participants then the odd-one-out is forced to dance with me. It is also important to learn to dance with various dance partners, because everyone's individual dance dynamic is different. If you have a dance partner that you would like to focus your learning with, that is fine, just let me know so I don't mix the pairs up too much. I do reserve the right to change this schedule as needed to fit the various circumstances that I'm sure will surface throughout the lesson year. If in doubt... I am always right! It's good to be the instructor. Dance lessons will be moving to Friday nights beginning 9/18/2008. Thursday nights will be practice nights.
