Ok folks, here it is. Since I’m the dance instructor, I get to put in my two cents worth here. It’s good to be the instructor. I know the above chart is designed for the perfect world with the perfect freaking sized dance floor. I also realize we are a bit limited with the space at DC’s Saloon. But by using the above chart as a reference point we can make the best of the space we have at DC’s Saloon. Dance floor etiquette should be viewed as a way to fully utilize the dance floor so that EVERYBODY has fun. If each style of dancing is done in it's proper area there should be room for everyone. In effect, Dance Floor Etiquette serves to increase the available space of the dance floor.

Ok, everyone knows that there are several dances that have been choreographed for some songs. So here is the rule of thumb that we will be using at DC’s Saloon. If the DJ has not called the dance for the song that is coming up, then the first person that gets to the dance floor gets to choose the dance. If the dance was called by the DJ then that’s what you do.

FACE THE LONG EDGE OF THE FLOOR: This really only helps on 2 wall line dances, but if you make it a practice, then it becomes second nature and one less thing to think about. Dancers joining lines have a tendency to join an already existing line rather than form a new one. Lines facing the longer edge can stretch out farther.

DANCERS BUMP INTO THE NICEST PEOPLE: It's a fairly accepted practice that when a collision occurs, APOLOGIZE, EVEN if it wasn't your fault.
